Ross & Smith Island

DESCRIPTION

Ross & Smith Islands, located in the Andaman Islands of India, are two beautiful islands joined together by a natural sandbar. The islands are situated at a distance of 20 km from Diglipur and 320 km from Port Blair. The islands are a popular tourist destination and are known for their crystal clear waters, beautiful marine life, and scenic beaches.

One of the main attractions of the Ross & Smith Islands is the sandbar that connects the two islands. During low tide, the sandbar appears and creates a stunning crescent shape between the two islands. Visitors can walk across the sandbar and enjoy the view of the surrounding blue waters and lush green forests. The sandbar disappears during high tide, but the islands still offer many opportunities to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the Andaman Islands.

The islands are surrounded by tropical forests and are a preferred place for trekking and trail hiking by many tourists. Visitors can also opt for activities like scuba diving and snorkeling to explore the beautiful coral reefs and colorful species underwater. The clear blue waters add a touch of cleanliness to the whole experience.
Ross & Smith Islands are home to the Olive Ridley turtles, and visitors can witness the turtle nesting during the nesting season. The islands are also a preferred place for sunbathing and swimming. One side of the sandbar has absolutely calm waters, making it ideal for swimming for children and even for adults who are not too sure about venturing into the sea. The other side of the sandbar has manageable waves for the more adventurous visitors.
